Green Euro-MP To Meet Local Campaigners On Visit To Hampshire

30 June 2010 – The Green Party’s Euro-MP for Hampshire and the South East will meet with a support group for asylum seekers and local environmental campaigners on Friday – as he makes his first official constituency visit to Hampshire since taking over from the region’s former MEP Caroline Lucas.

Keith Taylor MEP will host discussions with charity workers and campaigning groups across Hampshire on Friday (2 July) and will be available for interviews throughout the day. Please contact Melissa in the press office to arrange on 020 7407 9935.

 

Keith’s itinerary:

 

10.15am, meeting with Havant Friends of the Earth to discuss local environmental issues and concerns about the prospect of future drilling for oil in Hampshire.

 

10.45am, discussion with representatives from the local Palestine Solidarity Campaign group.

 

12.00, joining Portsmouth Climate Action Network to talk about current campaigns.

 

2.30pm, meeting with volunteers from the Southampton and Winchester Visitor’s Group and Refugee Action to discuss the advice and support they provide to asylum seekers and refugees in the area.

 

4.30pm, meeting with campaigners from Save Our Loddon Valley and Environment (SOLVE) to highlight ongoing opposition to a local housing development which threatens countryside habitats and biodiversity.
