18 April 2011 – This is the message which Keith has given to the Humane Society International which broadcast images of seal slaughter on a giant video screen outside the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement negotiations in Ottawa last week.

Keith has taken a stand against Canada’s WTO challenge to the EU ban on trade in seal products. A motion on EU-Canada Trade relations is currently going through the parliament’s International Trade Committee. Keith is a member of this committee and will be voting in favour of an amendment which calls on the parliament to strongly defend the EU ban on seal products. This ban has saved a countless number of seal lives since its introduction in 2009.
